Practice Information
It is crucial to be accountable to my clients, this document describes the high standards that I set for myself and you.
Availability
You can check my availability at the book a one to one session page. They are subject to change depending on my circumstances.
Telephone and Skype sessions are also available on request but there will be no hypnosis involved. It will be more focused towards counselling.
Session Length and Frequency
The length of a regular hypnotherapy session is up to 90 minutes. I have found through experience that 50 minute sessions are too short and anything more than an hour and a half is too tiring for both the client and the therapist.
At times it might be necessary to lengthen or shorten the period of the session if it is beneficial for both parties.
Sessions are usually held either once a week or every fortnight. Usually the first two session are done within a week and every fortnight after that.
The space of time allows you to integrate any changes and helps to facilitate the changes.
Client’s Cooperation
It takes two to tango. You can come to the sessions or not come but if you are not fully committed to this process don’t expect many results. Our sessions are not a place to be passive, in the contrary they are a place to be active. To learn, to reflect, to grow. If you are not willing to put the work I suggest you to look elsewhere.
If you feel you have any doubts about the process at any time please communicate it to me.
Consider the therapist to be the leaver that helps in the process of change. You as a person though need to participate in your own process of change. It is your efforts and going through the set of exercise in the therapy room or outside of it that will help you grow, evolve and move on.
Some of the methods used are very simple but they are very effective. What works for you might not work for somebody else so it is worth trying with an open mind.
Session Cancellations
From time to time I understand that there might be the need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. I need at least 48 hours notice from the time of your session to accept any cancellation or rescheduling.
If you fail to notify me in time your session will be fully payable. For the simple reason that someone else could be taking up your session slot.
Session Lateness
I know sometimes being on time is hard! I consider sessions to be a very serious appointment. In the same way you would not want to be stood up outside my office, I don’t like to wait either. It is about being accountable to ourselves and each other.
A session starts when it is arranged to start and finishes on time. If you are late you are just missing out on your time.
In the case of non-attendance, you will still have to pay for your appointment and there will be no refunding.
Confidentiality and Disclosure of Information
By law I need to comply with the Data Protection Act, which explains how confidential information must be used and processed. You can read the Privacy Policy to see how your data is processed.
Any information that is taken during a session, such as notes is locked away. As a client you have the right to see these at anytime. Although they might not be representative of the truth they might be relevant at the specific point in time to me.
You personal information will be kept for 7 years. After that, your data is safely destroyed. Your data will not be used for any marketing reasons unless you have given us consent to do so.
Confidentiality will be broken under the following reasons:
- Significant risk of harming yourself or others
- As my legal duty to disclose information to the authorities based on a criminal offence or investigation
Information Sharing Consent
At times it might be useful to get additional information from other professionals, such as your midwife.
Without having your written consent I do not have the right to contact anyone and share your information unless it is an emergency to your well being or somebody else’s well being.
If, for whatever reason, you feel that you do not want to give consent, we will need to talk about continuing with your treatment.
Treatment and Service Reviews, Feedback and Testimonials
Without feedback our progress stops. In order for me to be able to improve and also understand my clients it is necessary for me to get your feedback.
Sometime during or after the treatment I might send you a questionnaire for you to comment. Although you don’t have to complete it, I would be very grateful if you did.
Supervision
I receive regular supervision from another qualified Hypnotherapist. Details of my cases are discussed with my supervisor. The information that I share is used in an anonymous fashion.
Referring-on Process
From time to time it might be necessary to refer a client to another professional therapist. I will be happy to discuss with you the reasons of taking such a decision.
Professional Memberships
As a fully registered member of the National Hypnotherapy Society I am required to abide by their code of ethics and practice.
Ongoing Professional Development
My qualification and membership to the National Hypnotherapy Society obliged me to take part into Continued Professional Development (CPD). This is the way in which I keep up to date with the research, through workshops, courses and lectures.
Comments & Complaints
I take therapy very seriously and I find it to be a very caring and tender environment. Usually any comments or complaints arise from miscommunication rather than misconduct.
If you do have any comments or complaints about the service or treatment received, please inform me as soon as possible verbally or in writing through the contact form. I will provide a response within 7 days upon receipt.
If for whatever reason you feel that your complaint has not been dealt in a professional manor, I will supply you with further information on what actions you can take.
